About
Hi! I’m Jennie Seitz, founder of GT Pro-Edit LLC. I’m a professional editor with a background in academic and nonfiction editing. I provide clear, respectful editing that strengthens your message while maintaining your voice and intent.
Background
With over 15 years of experience in editing and English language education, I specialize in nonfiction and academic editing and proofreading in fields such as education, behavioral science, ESL, and human–computer interaction. I edit manuscripts, journal articles, and textbooks, and I have particular expertise in supporting multilingual authors.
Alongside independent authors and researchers, I work with ELT publishers and other organizations to help them communicate clearly and effectively.
I’m committed to ongoing professional development and to contributing to the editing community. I created and teach Introduction to Academic Copyediting, a course for experienced editors transitioning into academic work, which is available through the Editorial Freelancers Association.
In addition to being a Professional Member and Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), I serve on the Leadership Team of the Editors Canada–EFA Academic Editing Chapter, where I’m currently Admin & Communications Committee chair. I also colead a CoIN working group for the Society for Scholarly Publishing on “Keeping up with AI.”
I'm also an active member of ACES, PEN, FPP, and EASE, and I’ve written articles for PEN and Editors Canada. I’ve also presented a webinar on AI and academic editing for PEN members.
I spent several years living and teaching in Japan before moving into editing full time. That experience continues to shape how I approach language—with attention, care, and respect for voice, especially when working with multilingual authors.
I’m originally from the UK and now based in the US, which means I’m comfortable working in both British and American English and tailoring my approach to suit a range of audiences, publishers, and style guides.
My Approach
My editing style is focused, careful, and collaborative. I help you meet your goals by ensuring your writing is clear, well structured, and appropriate for your audience. I have extensive experience with major style guides, including the Chicago Manual of Style and APA, and I tailor my approach to suit both academic and general readers.
For multilingual authors, I offer support that respects your language choices and helps you express your ideas with confidence. I'm also a certified business mindset coach, which means I understand how vulnerable writing can be, especially when it’s tied to your career, credibility, or creative identity. I bring that awareness into every project, offering both editorial clarity and calm, collaborative support.
Why GT Pro-Edit
GT Pro-Edit exists to help authors and organizations produce writing that is both polished and purposeful. Clients work with me because I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality editing that enhances their work while retaining their meaning and voice.

“Thank you so much for sending the copy over. It's great to have your expert eye over the text in terms of style, consistency and issues. I appreciate you collating all your comments and observations in the style guide.”

Why is there an elephant in my logo?
The elephant in my logo isn’t just decorative; it represents the values behind my editing services.
Elephants are strong, wise, intelligent, and reliable. They’re known for their memory, emotional insight, and ability to communicate with care and clarity. They live long lives and form close-knit communities, reflecting the importance of cooperation and shared purpose. In many cultures, they’re also symbols of good luck and positive energy.
The quill in the elephant’s trunk is a nod to writing and editing, of course, but it also reflects a thoughtful, steady approach to the craft. I aim to bring all of these qualities to every project I take on.
